OCCUPATION. Independently wealthy bon vivant and publisher of The American Unnaturalist: A Quarterly Review of Unusual, Anomalous, and Allegedly Supernatural Phenomena.

HISTORY. Remy was born into New England old money in coastal Massachusetts, raised in a centuries-old home amid inherited antiques and a rich family history. When he was nine years old, his parents left on a routine sailing trip aboard their yacht and never returned. Despite a search, the yacht and its passengers were never found; it was ruled a maritime disaster and his parents presumed dead. He became obsessed with shipwrecks and other at-sea events, particularly the unusual and unexplainable ones: Mary Celeste, the SS Ourang Medan, the Bermuda Triangle... an interest that soon ballooned into any potential supernatural phenomena. While pursuing a degree in History—tailoring his coursework toward Western Esotericism—he started a tiny student publication known as The American Unnaturalist. After graduation, his inheritance has allowed him to work as an independent scholar rigorously researching unusual claims and publishing his findings in his quarterly journal.

PERSONALITY. An eccentric, intensely curious man who fancies himself a gentleman scholar. He lives somewhat in a dream world, preferring the old-fashioned and/or whimsical to the mundane and modern; his journal is printed on paper four times a year with much love put into the antiquated look, and the website for the journal appears as if he refuses to acknowledge that the internet has aesthetically improved since 2005. He's deeply earnest and completely unironic about the things he loves, particularly the peculiar. Although he desperately longs for the supernatural to be real, he has a strong academic rigor and is intolerant of sloppy evidence and sensationalism. Genteel and with excellent manners, he can nonetheless be irritatingly persistent, sheltered, and insensitive to what others might find genuinely horrifying. Remy believes the world is stranger than others think and intends to document it all properly.

VISUAL. Approximately 5'11", dark and somewhat unruly hair, lean build. Dresses a bit like a 'dark academia' cosplayer, favoring older, more formal styles—knitwear, collared shirts, loafers, old watches, spectacles. Expensive in dress, but not fashionable.
OLFACTORY. A quiet, earthy cologne. The scent of old books. Leather.
AURAL. Educated, measured, prep-school polished.
DEMEANOR. Friendly, curious, talkative to the point of not understanding when others don't care about what he's saying.
